The FRITZ!Box 4040 allows you to establish a fast Internet connection using any type of Internet link. The comfortable, intuitive, and fully Polonized interface allows you to configure the connection in a few simple steps. The router is ready for new network functions and meets all operator requirements, thanks to, among other things, IPv6 protocol support. The fast, gigabit WAN port allows connection to a cable modem (e.g., INEA, Vectra UPC, and others), VDSL/ADSL (e.g., Neostrada, Netia), or can be connected to an existing local network. Additionally, thanks to the built-in USB ports (1x USB 2.0 and 1 x 3.0), it is possible to use mobile network connectivity (e.g., Orange, T-Mobile, Plus, Play, and others) via a connected LTE modem.

Secure network

AVM FRITZ! products are designed with a strong emphasis on security issues. Already at the moment of the first startup, the FRITZ!Box 4040 router is protected by a firewall, and access to the wireless network is secured with an individual network key. To ensure even better protection of the home network, the router allows for the creation of a wireless guest network - a private hot spot that is isolated from the main network. Additionally, the guest access function can be activated on the LAN4 port. Guest access can be time-limited and further restricted by establishing filters and Internet access rules. Parental control functions allow for supervision over the activity of the youngest Internet users, automatic filtering of the pages they browse, and even setting how much time per day they can spend online.

FRITZ!OS

The heart of the FRITZ!Box 4040 router is the intelligent and intuitive FRITZ!OS operating system. Designed so that device configuration is fast and seamless. Configuration wizards simplify establishing an Internet connection or security configuration. The settings saving function allows for the creation of a password-protected backup copy of the configuration, useful in case of a failure. The settings file can even be uploaded to another FRITZ!Box device, so the user does not have to configure the new equipment from scratch, and replacing the router with a newer model takes only a few moments. Thanks to regular updates, the routers are enriched with new functions and conveniences. It is even possible to activate automatic updates, so the router always allows you to enjoy the most modern functions and security features. FRITZ!App mobile applications further enhance the capabilities of the FRITZ! home network by offering functions such as playing content from the media server or even turning a mobile phone into a home monitoring camera.

MESH - what does it really mean?

Sometimes one wireless network is not strong enough for the whole house. Reception may be weaker or dropouts may occur in some rooms. A mesh network does the following: multiple access points generate multiple WiFi wireless networks that are combined to form a single, common, closed network. The entire WiFi network created in this way has only one name and password, and end devices, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc., switch automatically between the network transmitters, without the user's knowledge or intervention.

Thanks to mesh networks, you can easily enjoy high speeds while surfing, streaming video, or gaming - without any problems, even in the most distant corners of every room.

The overview of the home network has been expanded with a MESH network overview graphic, where you can see active FRITZ! devices and the device through which the smartphone, tablet, laptop, or game console are connected.
